The Buffalo Infringement Festival keeps getting bigger as it keeps getting better
Posted by Jason in Arts, My Acting, My Writing, Travel on July 30, 2011
Wow, feels like the last time I was writing in this space it was a year ago. Actually, wait, it was over a year ago. I was talking about the upcoming 2010 Montreal Infringement Festival. That went very well and then I went to Buffalo, that was incredible. I wrote about my experiences at this [...]
Let’s infringe again!
Posted by Jason in Arts, My Acting, My Writing on June 8, 2010
Well, it’s almost that time of year again! The time of year where a slew of critical artists invade the stages and streets of Montreal to artistically infringe on the monoculture that surrounds them every day. It’s almost time for the seventh annual Montreal infringement Festival! The new poster’s done, here it is
Back at my alma mater
For those who don’t know, I went to Concordia University back in the day. I was a journalism student and not much of an activist at the time. My how times have changed…sort of. You see, I still write for sites like Forget The Box and occasionally get a paying writing gig, but I’m considerably more of an activist these days.
I’m back!

Well, it’s been a while. No, I haven’t been away on some sabbatical out in nature putting off all things electronic for a while. Far from it. In fact, I’ve been quite active online, just not on this site. You see, Forget The Box, the site whose online magazine I edit and contribute to has undergone a major revamp in terms of its backend (what you don’t see).
Sexy Sunshine
Let’s talk about sex, actually, let’s watch people talk about sex and perform comedy bits about sex. I’m talking, of course, about the sexuality episode of JC Sunshine’s Fireside Chat which airs tonight at 7:30pm eastern on Forget The Box TV and will be available on demand afterwards.
The Olympics LIVE from New York!
When this post is published I’ll be in New York City (most likely Brooklyn to be precise) getting ready for the Olympics (sort of). Now despite what I may personally feel about the political and social implications of the heavily corporate-sponsored Native land-stealing games in Vancouver, or anywhere else for that matter (check out some of the coverage on Forget The Box), there are quite a few people interested in the sports and they are a good source for comedy
Hear me sing
Posted by Jason in Funny Videos, My Acting on February 27, 2010
Regular readers may not know this, but I used to sing in a band. We were called [sik] and we played shows for a little over a year before breaking up. Except for a few random open mics, jams at parties and the like, I haven’t sung much publicly in about seven years. I’ve been around music, mostly in a promoter capacity, but the opportunity to just get up and belt one out never really presented itself. Recently, though, it did
Fighting the good fight with a parody video
Posted by Jason in Commentary, Funny Videos, My Acting on February 11, 2010
For months now, the artists of Café Cleopatre and the rest of the Save the Main coalition have been fighting the good fight against the Angus Development Corporation and the Tremblay administration’s attempts to evict them in favor of a skyscraper office tower in the center of the Quartier des Spectacles. I’ve supported the coalition from the get-go and now have a chance to help out with my acting and writing
Riding a bike on TV
Posted by Jason in Funny Videos, My Acting on November 23, 2009
There’s an old saying that you never forget how to ride a bike. For a while I doubted its truth. Not anymore, thanks to a scene I shot for JC Sunshine’s Fireside Chat back in early September. The theme was biking and in keeping with it, we filmed a segment (the show is live, but some of the segments are pre-recorded) where JC (my character) learns how to ride a bike.

The spring has sprung
Posted by Jason in Commentary, My Acting on March 17, 2010
I am proud to bring you this site’s first weather update, sort of. While the calendar may not acknowledge that it’s spring yet, the weather outside here in Montreal has a different idea. For a few days now, I haven’t been afraid to leave my window open for long stretches of time and last night when I went to the store, things felt inviting.
